Wonder Goblin created BARBARESS in 2019 with the intent to make a comic book centered around the character. He produced the toy in soft vinyl and released the premiere paint run on 9/21/19. The toy stood at 7.5 inches and was articulated at 5 points with a removable cape and came with KITTY FAMILIAR.
James connected with legendary artist Ralph Niese to create a one-shot comic that was 24 pages and in full color. The origin story took place before Barbaress became the Defender of Demonkind and depicts an ancient ritual full of dark magic. James also wrote a 16-bit side scrolling video game script starring Barbaress as the hero and featuring many other characters from the Wonder Goblin universe. It has yet to be produced. Fingers crossed that it gets made one day.
