Papa Squatch, protector of the forest and the humble guide of the Squatchlanders. He takes pleasure in simple things, such as long walks through the woods and caring for animals. He doesn’t talk much, but understands many languages of forest creatures. Papa Squatch isn’t much for bathing, which results in a pungent stench that carries for miles. Nevertheless, his hair is always immaculate. This is mostly due to the grooming habits employed by the animals that live within his fur. His diet consists primarily of berries, nuts, seeds, roots, wild mushrooms, leafy greens, and moonlight soup. Papa Squatch wanders not only Earth, but also the multiverse with his mastery of pandimensional magic. His passion lies in traversing across the universe and visiting planets with a rich and diverse animal population, but if other bipedal creatures turn up, he’s quick to disappear. He is known by many names throughout the cosmos:

OFFICIALLY LICENSED HEDORAH

Wonder Goblin will be at Wonder Festival in Japan! My new officially licensed design for Hedorah is going to be at the STRANGE GALLERY booth number 4-18-12. They will be selling them for ¥18,500 (roughly $135 each). If you scroll down to the slide show, you'll see the first sculpt I did of Hedorah that was actually rejected by Toho. After we took off some of her more experimental elements and gave her the more classic features, they found her satisfactory. There was a lot of back and forth, and Strange Gallery worked hard on producing the final result in time, but they managed to get it done just in time for this summer’s Wonder Festival opening day, July 24th, which happens to be my birthday! And did you know that the film “Godzilla vs. Hedorah” was originally released in 1971 also on July 24th?! Woohoo, we’re birthday twins!

SUMMERTIME FUN

Three weeks into summer and I'm ready for Fall please! Just kidding. Even though Georgia summers are notoriously hot and humid, they can also be quite beautiful. Green things are growing. Animals are singing. And best of all, stray cats like to show up around the studio this time of year, and it's always nice making new friends. I could do without the mosquitos and ticks though. Ah well, you gotta take the bad with the good!

Anyhow, enough of me going on about summers in the south. We've got toys toys toys, and it's all completely random! I've been going with the flow lately, just painting what comes my way and dropping things in the shop at random dates and times. Sometimes it's a one-off or maybe a blind micro-run and perhaps a fun collab thrown in the mix. I think I'm probably going to continue doing that for the rest of the month, because... well, it's fun and simple and it's hot and I'm lazy.

So there you have it, and consider this your heads up - one day you might see something fun in the shop, and the next it might be gone. I might post something about it on instagram, or maybe I won't because social media can be hard to keep up with. Regardless, I'll try to always make sure there's at least something new here to tickle your fancy, at least for the rest of this month. So stop on by whenever you get the hankering to, and I'll try to make sure you're never disappointed!

I’m very excited to once again collaborate with Apos Toys for this upcoming shop drop! Apos Toys is one of my favorite toymakers, and every new figure he comes out with just impresses me more and more. When it comes to monsters inspired by nature, Fuma is the best at capturing a whimsical charm that’s hard to find these days.

TAIWAN SOLO SHOW

Wonder Goblin’s first solo show in Taiwan will be taking place at Strange Gallery this Saturday! The exhibition will open on-site at the gallery on September 4 at 1 pm and run through September 13th. Mr. Goblin painted two exclusive colorways for the show, ”Blue Devil” and ”Pink Devil”. There will also be customized one-off Lucky Devil sets from some of the best Asian artists in the sofubi scene including @recyclec @robintangantics @midnitehotel @lordmasterprince @happylalayo @hexactuss @kaijucolosseum @fokqueenie and @dontcryinthemorning

BEELZEBUD Lottery

Only one more day ‘til Halloween! Who else can’t get the Silver Shamrock jingle out of their head? I won’t lie, this Halloween has been a stressful one, but what better way to escape the world’s problems than by quarantining yourself in a paint cave and burying yourself in work. Would you believe I’ve painted 170 toys just within the month of October? Yikes!

Anyhow, the 2020 Horrorthon is coming to a close (at least I hope it is haha) and we’re finishing it off with a special mashup. Budfoot X Boogey Boy = Beelzebud! This is a hand painted micro-run of the first official Beelzebud release. Because I’ve enjoyed painting this guy so much, I think I’m going to try and execute a new Beelzebud release once every Halloween for at least the next few years. Perhaps a new demonic head each time? We’ll see!

HORRORTHON Release Dates

Halloween is coming early with the Wonder Goblin HORRORTHON! Every week of October we'll be dropping a new release, and we're starting things off with a bang by hosting a 24 hour lottery for 12 Trick Or Treat Bags today on October 1st. The pumpkin-faced Trick Or Treat tote bags will contain all toys from the first 3 weeks worth of releases, including a Marbled BARBARESS Playset, Phantasm Glitter FUNGOID set, and Poisonberry MANEKI DEVIL set. Trick Or Treat Bags are $395 + shipping.
